Advice for safe driving during the summer season
High temperatures, congestion on the main routes and longer journeys call for extra care behind the wheel.

During the summer months traffic on the coastal routes is considerably heavier, and high temperatures put an additional strain on driver and vehicle alike. A few simple habits can significantly reduce the risk of breakdowns and accidents.
Set off outside the peak hours
If you are travelling towards the coast, leaving in the early morning usually means shorter delays at the border crossings and in the tunnels. Check the road conditions before you set off.
A break every two hours
Fatigue is one of the most common causes of accidents on longer journeys. A short fifteen-minute break, staying hydrated and airing the vehicle all help to keep your concentration up.
Adjust your speed to the conditions
Hot asphalt, sudden summer rain and roadworks change the conditions from one kilometre to the next. A safe following distance and a moderate speed remain the best protection.
